
Responding With Compassion – Level 2 online
‘RESPONDING WITH COMPASSION’ MINDFULNESS COURSE (LEVEL 2) 2025
Mindfulness Hrvatska in partnership with the UK Mindfulness Association, is pleased to host online our Level 2 Mindfulness Course ‘Responding With Compassion’.
‘Responding with Compassion’ develops your mindfulness practice by training in compassion. It is ideal if you have completed the Level 1 ‘Being Present’ Mindfulness Course (or an equivalent course).
As a participant in RESPONDING WITH COMPASSION you will:
- enhance and build upon your existing mindfulness practice
- add compassion and self-compassion to your mindfulness
- learn unique mindfulness practices which use compassionate imagery and visualisation
- cultivate positive emotions as a way of building up an inner resource, from which we can approach difficulties and challenges
- work with your inner voice to develop positivity and self-kindness and cultivate an inner voice that is kind and supportive
- develop your innate ability to feel and show compassion for yourself and for others
- find a sense of balance and perspective beyond your preferences
- open your compassionate heart, at the centre of your being.

As there is an emphasis on experience, there are home practice suggestions that include regular compassion practice and daily life exercises. You will have access to downloadable audios of compassion-based mindfulness practices (in English).
RESPONDING WITH COMPASSION includes:
- 3 modules each with 4 x 2-hour sessions + a follow up session
- 26 hours of live teaching (in English, with translation as necessary), discussions, activities, including sharing, and group mindfulness practice
- A handbook/manual for each module (In English)
- Downloadable audio recordings of tutor-led mindfulness practices (in English)
- Home/personal mindfulness practices and activities
- Online and email tutor support
- Informal, regular communication (What’s App group)
- Course completion certificate.
Each module has 4 live sessions, and each is tutor-led, interactive and involves
- Short tutor talks followed by whole group discussions
- Group mindfulness practices
- Group discussions and dialogue.
The course modules and dates are (all Mondays, 19:00-21:00):
MODULE 1: SELF COMPASSION
05 MAY 2025; 12 MAY 2025; 19 MAY 2025; 26 MAY 2025
MODULE 2: COMPASSION FOR OTHERS
02 JUNE 2025; 09 JUNE 2025; 16 JUNE 2025; 23 JUNE 2025
MODULE 3: COMPASSION IN ACTION
30 JUNE 2025; 07 JULY 2025; 18 AUGUST 2025; 25 AUGUST 2025
FOLLOW UP SESSION: 08 SEPTEMBER 2025
If you wish to participate in ‘Responding With Compassion’ but some or all of these dates or times are not suitable for you, please register anyway and write a note about this on the registration form. We will then try to find a time that is suitable for all.
The fee for each of the 3 modules is €80. This includes:
- A manual or handbook (in English) for each of the 3 modules
- Audio recordings of tutor-led practices (in English) for streaming or downloading
- All live teaching.
- Course completion certificate.
You must attend all the course sessions to receive the course completion certificate. Viewing recordings is possible for a small number of sessions which you may be unable to attend live online.
The group size will be a minimum of 5 and maximum of 15 participants.
If you are already a trained teacher of the 8-week Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC), upon completion of RESPONDING WITH COMPASSION’ you can undertake teacher training with the Mindfulness Association to also teach the 8-week Compassion-Based Living Course (CBLC).
The tutor for RESPONDING WITH COMPASSION is David McMurtry. Dr. David McMurtry has practiced and studied meditation for many years. He is a co-founder of the MSc in Studies in Mindfulness at the University of Aberdeen and has taught compassion-based mindfulness in Zagreb since 2016. He is also a co-founder and Past President of Mindfulness Hrvatska. David has successfully taught mindfulness in an academic environment, including at both Masters and Doctoral levels, and also in the community, accredited by the UK Mindfulness Association.
